We were delighted to be at the People’s Postcode Lottery annual Charity Gala this Tuesday, where it was announced that £93.4 million had been awarded to charities and good causes like us last year – thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Amy and Ama, our CEO and Head of Grants, enjoyed celebrating the incredible support we received in 2017, which means players have now contributed over £1,000,000 to AfriKids! This transformational support is ensuring more children in northern Ghana are happy, healthy, safe and in school, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty, for good. Since becoming part of the the PPL family, we have enjoyed collaborating with other partner charities and we are honoured to be one the many amazing causes supported by players.
The gala was a celebration of the phenomenal achievements of charities working across Great Britain and internationally that are supported. The lottery also took the opportunity to announce an increase to 32% of each ticket sale going directly to good causes! Emma Thompson was the surprise guest of the night, alongside broadcaster Dermot Murnaghan and TV presenter Fiona Philips. Everyone enjoyed closing the evening singing along to Heather Small's Proud!
Our Jolly phonics trained teachers have a little song for the players of People's Postcode Lottery; to thank them for improving the quality of education in schools across northern Ghana, by supporting special, early years teacher training.
