There have been some recent changes to our UK Board of Trustees, including handover of the Chair role and welcoming some new faces.  

AfriKids’ Board of Trustees are responsible for governing the organisation, ensuring we are operating responsibly and effectively to deliver our mission and strategy. They meet with the CEO at least once a quarter to review information about the financial position and activities of the Charity; make decisions and provide advice and direction to the CEO. 

Jason Haines, who has served as a trustee since 2014, has now stepped into the role of Chair to head up the Board, taking over from Duncan Spencer as he completes his term. 

Jason first got involved with AfriKids when we were Charity of the Year for Allen and Overy LLP, where he is Global Financial and Operations Director. He joined a trip to visit AfriKids’ projects in Ghana at the time and has never looked back. Jason will now be Chairing the Board as AfriKids moves into a new era – overseeing our plans to reach more children than ever with our new five year strategy launching 2021. 

Huge thanks to Duncan for his outstanding contribution to AfriKids. Duncan has supported and been involved with the organisation from the very beginning and under his leadership as Chair of the Board, has helped us grow, develop and successfully navigate some challenging times.  

We are also delighted to introduce you to the newest members of our UK Board of Trustees. These individuals will be bringing in new skills, experience and ideas to help drive us further forward. Please join us in welcoming them all.
