Teepalig Gbeogo Children’s Home
 

This German charity became a partner for AfriKids Ghana at the end of 2011. Having sponsored children at a home in the Talensi Nabdam it had run into some difficulties with the management of the home and concluded, in consultation with AfriKids Ghana and the district Department of Social Welfare that the vast majority of the children could be cared for in their homes as few were complete orphans and most had extended family willing to care for them.

Ghana’s Care Reform Initiative encourages de-institutionalisation for children and avoiding taking children into institutional care wherever possible and through its core projects AfriKids Ghana has become a regional expert in resettling children and providing home based support for them. In 2012 the Talensi Nabdam team are extending this care to the children sponsored by Teepalig Gbeogo Children’s Home with sponsorship direct from the German charity.
